History of My Hobby
7-5 century B.C. Maille is developed by either the Gauls, Etruscans, Latins(pre-Romans), Greeks, or Persians
January, 2004 A.D. I learn that people have attempted to recreate maille and begin the process of researching methods
and developing techniques to produce maille armor.
June, 2004 A.D. I finish developing my techniques after finalizing which stock materials to use and finalizing my techniques.

My Background
It all started with Amtgard, a live action role playing group that my friends invited me to join during sophmore year of high
school. It was pretty much just an excuse to beat each other with foam padded pvc, and roleplay with silly costumes. However
I noticed in the rules a section on armor, with a blurb on "chain" mail, and had to check my eyes again before I
got excited about the links to the websites that would describe how to craft "chain" mail, one of the most common
armors used by humans since around 7th century B.C. by the Etruscans till early 20th century A.D. by tank soldiers during
WWI! My passion for medieval and dark ages weapons and armor turned a new driection as I strove to become the armorer and
emulate the age old process to eventually create a custom fitted maille garment. I didn't realize that by the time I developed
my tools and technique, it would still take tons of man-hours to complete a single harness (which is where I am now) and of
course I would need a padded gambeson to wear underneath the maille.
